Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will be launching on the PlayStation 4 on April 14th, as well as revealing that PS4 players will be able to take part in a beta test which starts on February 22nd.  The publisher also revealed the account transfer plans for those who own the PS3 version.
The good news is that accessing your content on the PS4 version after transferring from PS3 will be free. However the price for this transfer is that you can no longer use the PS3 version with that transferred account. If you want to continue playing on both systems then you need to have both console versions, and is looks like different accounts, though the wording isn’t 100% clear in the press release.
A Collector’s edition for FFXIV:  A Realm Reborn was also announced and it will contain an art book called The Art of Eorzea: A Realm Reimagined, the games soundtrack, which is titled Sounds of Eorzea, a movie disc with something called The Waning of the Sixth Sun on it, art cards, and a themed security token.
There will also be exclusive in-game content available including the Coeurl Mount, Behemoth Barding, Baby Behemoth minion, Helm of Light, Fat Chocobo Mount and Wind-up Moogle minion. Those who already have registered a Collector’s edition on other platforms will receive the Fat Chocobo and Wind-up Moogle for free.
At the moment the price is set in dollars, coming in at $39.99 for the regular edition while the Collector’s edition is $79.99. It’s likely UK and Euro prices will sit around similar figures.

So the upgrade… does this mean just porting character/account? And not in the same light as buying the PS3 copy and getting the PS4 version alike to AC4 and COD and such.?
Aran Suddi
That’s what the release reads like. If you port the account over you can longer access it on the PS3.

I stopped playing when I realised this would be released on ps4 for free upgrade. Looking forward to giving it another go.
Story progression can be a right pain unless you have a bunch of friends to do some missions with. Hope this brings new life to it too.

Really? I did 99% of it on my own. Duty Finder is a great feature to get through the story if you don’t know too many people.

Can someone direct me to some info on how the free upgrade from PS3 version of the game to the PS4 version works? Bit confused as to whether you get the game or can just transfer your account.
I’m considering buying the digital PS3 CE which is currently on sale for £20 – then not playing it until the PS4 version is released. Would that allow me to start my 30 days free at that point on PS4?

So if I buy the PS3 version new from Game for £10.00 can I upgrade to the PS4 game or do I have to buy the PS4 version and just copy my game stats???

I managed to complete the main scenario recently so now i’m just grinding endgame to get good gear for the harder dungeons. I love the game, can get lot in it for hours and it really makes a difference when you’re in a good group or free company because the world is full of elitest wankers.
I spent 7 hours yesterday doing my relic weapon questline, did chimeara, hydra and AK, then stupidly abandoned my quest by mistake, which means i have to do it all over again.
Little tip, when you start working on your relic weapon, you eventually have to face Hydra, it seems to get in you have to talk to the chap outside but if you do, you end up in there on your own. to get out, just die, do not abandon the quest like an idiot (me!)
SpikeyMikey23
you need to use party finder btw haha

Still got it on the PC. Not a bad MMO by any means, but the time consuming nature and inflexibility of organised raiding guilds has put me off MMOs for good now. Thats why i’ll be giving this and Elder Scrolls a miss.
I wasnt terribly impressed with Square Enix and the launch of this game either. Not sure what the PS3 version was like but the PC one was a shambles.
