Reading through the comments this week it seemed as though most of you had only played the Diablo III demo and instead were all eagerly awaiting the PS4 version of Diablo III. However, those that had played the full game had nothing but praise for what was on offer on the PS3 and Xbox 360.

Starman kicked off the comments saying the “controls worked perfectly” and that “it never got boring” however long they played. Their only issue with Diablo III was the linear feel, they said it “could have done with some side missions to extent the campaign”.
psychobudgie thought it was an “utterly fantastic game”, even going as far to say that they had preference with the PS3 counterpart over the PC version. He concluded “buy it, just in case you were unsure”.
Sharing a similar criticism to Starman was Moshbag, they said “there is not quite enough quest content to support the amount of play required to get legendary weapons and special items you want”. In contrast they were particular impressed by the local co-op Diablo III had to offer and that the game was “packed to the rafters with quality combat, loot and monsters”.
Although Cron_13 was reluctant to buy the console version after an unsuccessful attempt with Diablo III on the PC, they were really glad they did. They said “the game really benefited from the controller and made it way more enjoyable”, as always “sofa gaming is much nicer”.
Finally we have yd who provided a very detailed account of Diablo III. They started their mini-review saying that “if you want to get completely obsessed with a game for a few weeks, it’s an obvious buy it”. This very much the same thought process I have for most RPGs.
Yd was quick to warn readers that there is a lot of grinding required in order to complete the game fully and achieve the platinum trophy. However, “that stuff would normally get annoying and tedious very quickly, but somehow you can get quite determined to do it”. So it’s not all doom and gloom when it comes to grinding on what is a potentially linear game. They recommended Diablo III for those who “know exactly what you’re getting into”.
Now it’s down to the all important votes. There were in total only five ratings cast, all of which were Buy It. That should be all the convincing you need if you’re on the fence about purchasing the console version of Diablo III.
It’s time to vote for next week’s game with the poll below. We’ve got Metro: Last Light coming up tomorrow, which is handy as it’s on PlayStation Plus soon, but that leaves Rayman Legends, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, Total War: Rome II and we’ve added a game which should really cause some discussion if chosen: Quantic Dream’s Beyond: Two Souls.

I really want this, really enjoyed the demo on my 360. But I refuse to buy it when there is a ps4 version on the way.
Just wish they would give a release date

I had rented D3 from Blockbuster and kept it well beyond its return date. I think I put them out of business!
Was good, and will be getting it on PS4 at some point.

Glad to hear the game is so good. This could be a stupid thing to ask, but could anyone compare Diablo III and Dungeon Siege III? I think both games are similar in terms of gameplay, so I just wanted to know why D3 is better (or maybe not?).
Moshbag
I also really enjoyed Dungeon Siege 3, and they are quite similar games. I think Diablo 3 has the edge because it has a strong level of replayability as you essentially go into NG+ onwards after it ends on Normal mode. Pretty sure DS was done when you got to the end. This also means more loot to find and craft as Diablo goes on, and you can alter the difficulty level to suit.
The combat I’d say is just as good between the two, but Diablo has an extra character to try, and skills can be fully respecced on the go so you can change up your style of play constantly (whereas I recall DS skills were set once you picked them). The skills themselves are all pretty cool, but then I played the wizard bloke in DS and really enjoyed his abilities too.
More multiplayer options in Diablo too, four player local and/or online play, and if you play a local game you can take your own character’s save file away with you.
Basically if you enjoyed Dungeon Siege you will probably enjoy Diablo even more.

Thank you very much for the in-deep comparison :) cheers!

Please can you stop posting stories about Diablo 3? I am aching for the PS4 release and I’m having trouble controlling my sanity in the interim. Even articles like the one above are starting to send me loser to the edge… I check the Diablo site every couple of days for news of the PS4 release and I’m sorely tempted to get the PS3 or PC version whilst I await the PS4 release. Gahhhhhhh! Someone help me!

See?! I’m going so mad that I’m omitting ‘c’s from words.
bunimomike
You daft unt.

It must be catching, now bunimo’s omitting random ‘a’s from words.
So Amphlett… How long have you been an aunt?

I was looking at maybe a dropped P or R, I never thought of A. All taken in good spirit.

I’ve been accused of a mini-review! It was more just a case of spewing forth a big rambling thing onto the internet. As I often do.
Also, I’m “they” again. But I think I’ve solved that problem for the future now. ;)

Good read :) day one purchase for me on the PS4!

If I ever play this, it’ll be on the PS4 and if gets a decent price. I might come looking for co-op friends when that happens, too dark for me to enjoy alone for a long time.

Deeply dissapointed with the demo for this game – inferior to Baldur’s gate:Dark Alliance on the PS2 in just about everyway .. even the graphics on BG:DA were ‘as good’ as D3. Gameplay nowhere near as good. Though D3 had some rudimentary physics stuff.
Granted BG:DA was a stand out game, but completely unexpected poor showing from D3.
Didn’t expect the demo to lose Blizzard a sale at all.
Seemed a pretty basic game for this gen .. have seen ‘nearly as good’s on xbox live arcade.. what happened – did I get a duff download ???
