Deadline are reporting, via those oh-so-reliable unnamed sources, that Horrible Bosses and Identity Thief director Seth Gordon is being lined up for the much delayed Uncharted movie.
Hollywood Reporter also have the story and say Gordon “is in final negotiations to direct” and note the film would be “a shift in tone and scale for Gordon, who has made a name for himself with his hit comedies.”
The latest script for the movie has been written by Safe House penman, David Guggenheim, and hopefully is nothing like the original script that focussed on the father/son relationship between Nathan and his dad.
The movie has had a troubled production with David O Russell (American Hustle, Silver Linings Playbook) and Neil Burger (Limitless) previously attached to direct and Mark Wahlberg, Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci, Amy Adams and Scarlett Johansson all tipped to star in the film.
Assuming Gordon signs on the dotted line shooting is expected to start later this year, so with six months post production we may be looking at summer 2015 window, in which case Nathan Drake will go up against The Avengers: Age of Ultron. And Mad Max. And Jurassic World And Fantastic Four. And Terminator: Genesis. And Ant Man.
Also, If the movie slips out in August then the movie will face off against Micheal Fassbender’s Assassin’s Creed movie.
