Sacred 3 Will Be Spreading Its Wings This Summer

Deep Silver has announced a new entry to the Sacred series with the third title releasing this summer on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. The trailer above is doesn’t show any gameplay but it does show what type of combat it will have, namely a lot of hack and slash as well as a focus on multiplayer, both online and offline. The multiplayer will be a drop in co-op affair where two players can play locally, while up to four can play together over the net.

There will be returning characters in the form of Seraphim, Ancarian, Khukuhru and the Safiri, as well as the introducing Malakhim. These characters represent different classes who possess different skills, with the trailer giving a hint to the strengths of each including ranged weapons, fire, and flight. There will also be local and online leaderboards to help compare who is the better warrior in the game.

  1. Glad to see this hasn’t been canned as there hadn’t been any information about it for a very long time.
I thoroughly enjoyed Sacred 2 so will most likely be picking this up.

  2. i just love CG trailers that show the characters doing stuff you’ll never be able to do in game. o_O

still, Sacred 2 was fun, this could be good.

    • Isn’t that what QTEs are for? :P

  3. Love a good hack and slash, didn’t really get on with the last Sacred game on PS3, but will keep an eye on this one as it has potential.

  4. Brilliant, as I am still getting through Sacred 2. With luck, I’ll finally have the platinum before this comes out!

  5. I enjoyed Sacred 2.
Just couldn’t be arsed to play the game through 300 times for the platinum.
But then I went and did exactly that for Diablo 3 (on PC) :|

  6. Sacred 2 had relatively decent reviews, yet, Hannypoppie (read: the missus) and I thought it was embarrassingly terrible. We couldn’t handle more than an hour or two of it. We love our co-op (and single player) RPGs too. From heavyweights like Skyrim and Amalur to light, top down romps like Torchlight and Van Helsing (PC).

I know it sounds a bit tantrum-ee, but Sacred 2 was utter shite. I shall be avoiding this like the plague… carrying a semi-automatic rifle.

    • Why not? it wasn’t easy compared to the likes of Torchlight and Diablo but it was enjoyable. Just tough to get into at the beginning.

      • It felt amateurish in many ways. Sounds effects I found particularly disappointing. I’ll ask the missus as the memory of it is (thankfully) fading. I was gutted as we were looking forward to local co-op gaming on the PS3.

I don’t remember the difficulty being a problem, however.
