Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition Viewers Can Become In Game Zombies, New Trailer Released

It appears that those clever chaps at Housemarque have had a cunning idea; Anyone viewing a live stream of your game can interact and become a named zombie for you to kill.

The feature was revealed by Sony’s President of Worldwide Studios, Shuhei Yoshida, via Twitter.

A post on Housemarque’s site reveals further details:

The brand new Broadcast+ mode gives players the opportunity to stream their playthroughs while viewers interact spawning zombie waves, items and perks writing specific keywords into the chat.

Like that wasn’t enough, your friends can now challenge you sending their ghosts into specific missions to show you how it’s done. It’s not all: we’ll speak about other new exciting features in the upcoming days.

Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition is part of PlayStation Plus next month and will be available for download on 5th March, check out the new trailer below.

  1. The whole broadcasting thing hasn’t really appealed to me, until now.
    I just might dare.

  2. Thats a really cool idea. I’m interested to hear what other features theyve added too. Love this game

  3. No question now that it’ll be worth replaying on PS4, those features sound really cool! :)

  4. This article has just made me super excited on a Friday lunchtime at work! Ahhhh man. Just when you think Dead Nation couldn’t get any better?!

Also.. This “series of massive significance” that OPM are set to reveal on their cover next month.. I’m beginning to think it could be Shemnue 3 – it ties in perfectly with the GDC talk taking place and all the other rumours..?

Frickin’ loving my PS4 so far!! :’D

    • I thought they’d lost the Shenmue trademark as they didn’t renew it in time?

      • Yes they did, Geeby OBVIOUSLY doesn’t read Snatch. *tuts*

        Shenmue is never coming back.

      • But….. but…

What about optimism?? And hope? And warm fuzzy feelings??

I’m going to remain blissfully unaware and keep my fingers crossed thank you very much! We need some good news from time to time.

Ain’t over til the fat lady sings!

  5. WOW!
all that power under the hood and that’s the best they can up with?
    a jazzed up dead nation!
ps4 really needs some games now,i am tiring of call of duty and battlefield.

    • At least it might be in 1080p, eh? Yay! :-P

    • No wonder you’re getting tired, given your selection of games. I was tired of CoD years ago already. ;o)

Seriously, I only played Dead Nation as I got it for free, after the privacy breach. Would have missed it otherwise, then really loved it. Similar with Motorstorm RC. Would never have considered it, but got it with Plus and loved it on the Vita. Sometimes it is good playing something different, and I like Plus for that.

    • Ironic that you are criticising a “jazzed up Dead Nation” and then go on to say you only play two games which, let’s face it, are almost identical to the their predecessors.

      And the predecessors predecessors.

      And the predecessors predecessors predecessors.

      • Tuff if you can recommend something that I can part 55 quid for then I would happily part with my money..I’m holding out for infamous for now but until then its cod or bf 4

  6. Thats a pretty cool idea, not that i actually stream that much.

  7. Would be nice with up to four player co-op. This sounds like “Twitch plays Dead Nation”. Should be fun.

    • Agreed. The Twitch feature will be pretty awesome when streaming. I can’t wait!

  8. Even though i completed the PS3 version, playing through this again on PS4 really interests me. Really looking forward to this, will tide me over nicely.

  9. Very, very cool!

  10. I remember the fact I managed to complete this on the PS3 but wouldn’t mind going through it again doing some online co-op on the PS4 as I can’t seem tho remember anything about the game for some reason. Its like someone rohypnoled me before playing it.
