I thought we would do something a little different today (as the charts have been rather dull recently) so I have listed the top 40 split by the individual formats. This listing also has added bonus of showing no sign whatsoever of Aliens: Colonial Marines.
The big release of last week, Thief, grabs first and second place with the PlayStation 4 version of the game selling the most copies. The last gen versions land at sixth and eleventh respectively. Next gen sales of the other big release, Plants Vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare, also come out on top with the Xbox One version selling out it’s older brother.
Further down the charts Castlevania: Lord of Shadows is one of the few games to sell more copies on PS3 than Xbox 360 and the chart topper from a few weeks back, Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, scrapes in at 39th with the PS4 version.
Overall the Xbox 360 has twelve entries, PS3 has ten, Xbox One picks up seven, PS4 nabs six and the 3DS charts three times, two of the entries being Pokémon.

Microsoft will be pleased with 8 of the top 10 being xbox games. I think Thief was going to sell with the next gen releases schedules being pretty slow.

The most impressive thing, for me, is that Thief sold so well on the new-gen consoles as oppose to the utterly huge install base of the last gen consoles. Bodes well for the future.

You could be right, but I think it shows that ONE/PS4 owners are so desperate for games that they will buy anything.

I knew that Thief would sell well on next gen, just because of the lack of titles. It worked out well that is was delayed slightly so they had zero competition.
