New Bound By Flame Trailer Fires Up The PS4 Combat Footage, Releasing May 9th

A new trailer has been released for upcoming RPG Bound By Flame, and this features PS4 footage of the game. It’s a combat demonstration showing a selection of combat against some different enemy types, and there seems to be quite a lot of slow motion implemented in the combat. Spiders Studio is behind the development for this game, and I’m hoping it’s a much better outing than Of Orcs & Men which had an interesting story let down by some poor design and AI choices.

In combat you’ll be able to switch through fighting styles, with there being three skill trees named Pyromancer, Fighter and Ranger. Bound By Flame looks like it could be an interesting title to play, and will be the first major RPG to appear on new generation console. The game will also release on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. 1. That pot belly monster at the end was dying to be sliced open and have his intestines fall out, but no, he just evaporates into green smoke.

  2. The movements looked very real, human-like to me.

  3. Not sure about this, I am not overly impressed with what I have seen in this clip. The characters seem to disregard each other and the scenery, in the second battle for instance, the player just walks through the clump of roots (or plant) as if it is not there and a couple of times in the same battle the beasts tail and limbs seem to go through the player.

I just expect more from the PS4.

  4. Such a shame to see this animating quickly enough where the idea that the sword is a heavy piece of metal just doesn’t tally any more. Let alone the armour or the size of the creature you’re fighting – another hulking great, big item.

I want to feel the weight of the weapons when they connect. It seems so plasticky and unbelievable when it’s any other way.

For all its faults, it’s why Dead Islands meleé weapons felt so good. You had to really swing the two-handed items and could feel such a thud when they planted into the zombies body or head.
