Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel Confirmed For PS3, Xbox 360 And PC

After a leak earlier this week, 2K have announced that their Australian branch are working with Gearbox on Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC for this Autumn. As expected, it’s set on the Pandoran moon of Elpis, and will be set between Borderlands 1 and 2, featuring a cast of new characters, who serve the “bad” side, along with Handsome Jack before he became so handsome.

Those characters include the melee-focused Athena the Gladiator, powered-up Wilhelm the Enforcer, justice-serving Nisha the Lawbringer and Fragtrap, a militarised version of Claptrap. Those sound like fun new characters, and are a bit different from the template set up in the first two games.

You’ll need to carefully manage your oxygen due to the atmosphere, but that also powers your jetpack which allows for “insanely long” moon jumps and double jumps. It’s a lootable resource, as many things are, so running low shouldn’t be a problem.

Space means Laser guns, with “pew pew” types and continually damaging lasers. There will also be freeze guns, and tons of these weapons will be available alongside the usual elemental types such as fire and acidic.

This could be quite interesting, and shows 2K’s ambition for making Borderlands into an even larger series, with the recent mobile spin-off and upcoming Telltale game also contributing to the universe. Let’s just hope they get on with a proper version for PS4 and Xbox One soon.

  1. Urgh. Last gen, No thanks. 1080P or GTFO.

    • For some of us, this is still very much ‘current’ gen, so I for one am exceptionally happy about this news.

Suck it PS4/XBone owners! Yeah. ;)

      • (It’s not very often I am going to be able to say something like that, so am taking the opportunity where I can!)

  2. Had this had been on PS4 I’d be all over it. Shame

  3. I’ll pick this up on PC. Had 2 on the PS3, but it looked and ran like ass so I gave up on it. Bought 2 again on PC again recently though and have been loving it in coop.

  4. Boo, would of been all over this if it was PS4, the co-op is great.

  5. Disappointed it’s not on ps4 but have been getting back into my ps3 again recently. Even if it’s operating system seems archaic after the upgrade.

  6. The next Bioshock 2?
