Over the weekend a post on NeoGAF hinted that Beyond: Two Souls may come to PlayStation 4 as a Director’s Cut. The following image is said to be “Input code from Beyond for a DS4 controller.”
The game’s title was also spotted in the programmer’s portfolio which has quickly been removed from the Internet along with information about a sequence in which you play as a baby which was cut from the PS3 version.
Images of Jodie Holmes, as played by Ellen Page, can be seen in the PS4 tech demo at the start of the following video.
Not much to go on so far but before the release of the game on PlayStation 3 David Cage said that the engine running Beyond was developed for PlayStation 4.
The first iteration with this new engine was used on ‘Kara,’ this short that we did, and it was the first time we used this new engine, but the engine has still significantly improved since Kara, to provide really new features – and all this was quite inspired by the development we did on PlayStation 4.
Because of our relationship with Sony, we had access to development kits on PlayStation 4 very early on, and we started developing this engine on PlayStation 4 with crazy features that were usually reserved to CG films.
Back in March last year Quantic Dream boss Guillaume de Fondaumière was asked if the game was only PlayStation 3. “So far, yes,” was his answer and David Cage also said there were no plans for a PS4 version the following month.
Slightly less, ahem, cagey, was Derek Osgood, associate product marketing manager at Sony Computer Entertainment America. He replied to a question asking in there was a PS4 version on the PS Blog back in September 2013, five months after Quantic Dream’s comments.
What I can tell you is that if there is a PS4 version of Beyond, it won’t be available for some time. The team just finished the PS3 version and still have work to do on the pre-order DLC.
It is worth noting that Derek would not deny there would be a PS4 version stating he “can’t confirm” if it would happen or not.
Beyond Two Souls was a technical marvel on PS3, if Sony wanted a game to show off the graphical power of the PS4 then Quantic Dream are the team to do it. As David Cage and chums take their time creating games an extra shiny version of last year’s hit would make perfect sense to revamp last year’s hit game, especially if the engine already runs on PS4.
In case you had forgotten what Quantic Dream can do with the hardware, here is their spectacular PS4 real time demo which David Cage said was “the minimum quality” his team can get from the console.
UPDATE: Guillaume de Fondaumière, Co-CEO of Quantic Dream, has retweeted two tweets, one asking if Beyond: Two Souls was coming to PS4 and the other asking if Heavy Rain is coming to PS4!
@GdeFondaumiere Hello, I'm a big fan of your work and wanted to ask if I may.. Will we see a remmastered version of Heavy Rain on PS4?

I wouldn’t be surprised to see the best looking game on PS3 make the jump to PS4.
Be interesting to see what they could add to it, the game already looked like a next-gen game while on PS3.

“Is Beyond: Two Souls Coming To PlayStation 4 As A Director’s Cut?” – I really hope so!
Having only played around a quarter of it so far, a shiny PS4 release could tempt me back in.

All the replies point to a ps4 version, but for the DS4 code, couldn’t that just be specific support for the controller for the ps3 game seeing as you can use the ds4 with the ps3?
A great way to show off the PS4 if the sorcerer tech demo level of graphics can be replicated. And as Sony could really do with some money right now, it makes huge sense for a game that isn’t exactly a top seller.
Here’s hoping for a remastered bundle of Beyod and TLOU.

Day one if so :-)

Couldn’t it just be for Playstation Now?

I’m not n any rush for it as i’m keeping my PS3 for the moment but i might be more interested in a year or so.
Btw, anyone who enjoyed Quantic Dream’s Kara tech demo should check out a movie called The Machine.

How about a few more original games for ps4? I, for one, didn’t buy it for rehashes of games that weren’t that great in the first place.
