Sadly, two of the biggest releases for PlayStation fans are only coming out in the US this week, with Borderlands 2 on Vita penned in for an EU launch later in May, while MLB 14 for PS4 has been hit by a last minute delay this morning, and has no backup release date announced yet.
But there’s still plenty of stuff to look forward to, as the PlayStation 4 gets its first real taste of the Action RPG genre. Bound by Flame is available today for both PS4 at £49.99/€54.99 and PS3 at £39.99/€49.99, ahead of a retail release later this week. Unfortunately, Royal Mail have been a royal pain in the backside and not delivered our review disc for this one, but we’ll hopefully be able to bring you some impressions from the game on Friday.
There’s also the release of the brilliantly fun looking Sportsfriends game bundle on PS4 and PS3, which brings together a collection of indie games designed for local multiplayer and tomfoolery for £11.99/€13.99 and Cross-Buy. They won’t blow your socks off graphically – cue complaints about lack of triple-A games – but no other game has you trying to knock a PlayStation Move controller out of your friend’s hand to the sounds of classical music.
Steamworld Dig has also received a 50% cut on both PS4 and Vita, with the new price being £3.69, with an additional discount for Plus members who can get the game for £3.32.
In case that didn’t sate your appetite for indie gaming, there’s also the PS4, PS3, PS Vita triple Cross-Buy release of Titan Attacks! A cathartic evolution of the classic Space Invaders formula for £7.99/€9.99, though it also sees a 10% PS+ discount.
Note: Titan Attacks! is currently priced at £8.49 on the PSN store, so you should wait until this has resolved itself one way or the other.
Finally for the PS4, some DLC. Horror fans can get another dose of thrilling scares and shocking surprises as the Whistleblower DLC is now out for Outlast, priced at £7.69/€8.99, while Call of Duty: Ghosts gets the new Devastation DLC pack tomorrow for £11.59/€14.49 or as part of the season pass.
Over on the PS3, there’s the releases of IHF Handball Challenge 14 for £39.99/€49.99, a game in which I assume touching the ball with your foot is illegal, aswell as Hakuoki: Stories of the Shinsengumi for £23.99/€29.99, a game which has a screenshot of an anime-styled character running with a piece of toast in his mouth. I honestly have no idea what the game is about.
Aside from the upcoming PS4 re-release, The Last of Us fans are surely looking forward to the latest DLC, which hits the store today. All available separately, it sees a bunch of new multiplayer maps in the Reclaimed Territories pack for £7.99/€9.99, a whole host of new online abilities and weapons for varying prices whether separate or in little budles, and the eponymous Grounded difficulty mode for £3.99/€4.99. You are far better off buying the season pass for £15.99, while it’s still available.
Finally, the PS Vita gets very little love this week, especially without Borderlands 2, but there is the Cross-Buy release of God of War Collection for £19.99/€24.99. If you bought this on PS3 previously, then you ought to be able to grab it again for the Vita free of charge, though it’s currently unclear whether or not the games are available standalone, which would net long-standing PS+ subscribers a Vita copy of that. We’ll see.
As always, we’ve endeavoured to beat the PS Blog to the punch and caught all of the content that is currently known about. However, there may be a few gaps and holes that we’ll return to and fill in once the PS Blog has gone live with their full update list.
Update:Â Added the last few prices in euros and also noted Call of Duty: Ghosts’ impending DLC arrival.

Titan Attacks for me, possibly Bound by Flame but i’ll wait for the review as i picked up Thief to keep me going in the meantime.

If you check out some of the battle footage released by the developer for ‘Bound By Flame’ then you’ll probably want to keep hold of your money. Clips on youtube don’t look good at all, unless they’re pre-alpha.

That’s a shame if true but all the more reason to wait for the reviews.

Agreed, I was mildly interested in this until I watched a few streams over the past few days and the combat looks decidedly shoddy.

Would really appreciate some early feedback on Bound By Flames. I love this genre, but this game seems to have come from nowhere, had very little fanfare and is by a developer with a fairly mediocre pedigree…
Any thoughts would be most welcome.

What a naff week! :( Still, with Borderlands out at the end of the month I should technically be saving my cash in preparation, but where is the fun in that?
Erroneus
Steamworld Dig on sale, getting it.

It’s a lovely little game. Well worth the small investment, especially if you have a Vita.

7.99 for titan attacks. Are they having a laugh when its on 69p on Xbox. OK add a bit on for bringing it to PlayStation but this is taking the urine.

That’s a bit of a shock but I would be more upset if i hadn’t just added it to all three of my console download queues! ;)

Fortunately there’s nothing that stands out this week for me, always good to see mediocre offerings when the latest Plus free goodness have just released. Everybody’s golf on Vita is utterly superb and deserves uncompromised gaming time :P
