Ladies and gentleman we finally have a release date for Diablo III on the next gen consoles and it is August 19th in the States. I would guess we get it a few days later on August 23rd.
Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition includes the recently released Reaper of Souls expansion and the new version will also be available for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Like the previous versions, the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 edition includes four player local co-op, perfect for those post-pub gaming sessions.
The console version of Reaper of Souls has been designed to take advantage of the unique features of the console platforms. All four console versions of the Ultimate Evil Edition feature4-player same-screen and online multiplayer—whether you’re banding together on the same couch or joining the fray via PlayStation®Network or the Xbox Live online entertainment network, Reaper of Souls makes it easy to experience Diablo in the best way possible: with your friends.
The Ultimate Evil Edition introduces even more ways for players to share their adventures. A new Apprentice mode boosts low-level players’ power while adventuring with high-level friends, making it easier than ever to play together. Players will also be able to share treasures with other players on their friends lists via an in-game mail system, including mysterious Player Gifts containing rare loot for the adventurer whose name they bear.

I waited on this one until now, as it’s tok grim for me to play alone gor a long time. But with local coop, I say bring it on. I hope it gets some sort of sale by September.

I wonder if I ever typed a correct sentence on the iPad keyboard. Oh wait.

PS4 four player local co-op pre-pub sessions sound good apart from the extra 100 gold coins it would cost for a couple of extra controllers.

Finally! Can’t wait for this. Will be the reason I invest in a second controller to play this locally with the wife.

WOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! Tippy toe dance! Tippy toe dance! Tippy toe dance!
PS4 and XB1 released at the same time? I wonder why… cough-ms contracts-cough.

Why do I have this horrible feeling they’ll manage to avoid releasing the expansion on it’s own? The only way to get it will be to buy the whole game again with the extra content included?
It’s not unheard of. Usually you get the option of buying the extra content separately, or in a bundle with the original game, but I can think of cases where that’s not an option. And I’ve a horrible feeling that’s what they’re planning here. So instead of paying for the DLC straight away, I’ll leave it a few months until this new edition is cheap, and then probably have forgotten about it and buy something else instead.
homerjnick
They have listed it as $39.99 for the PS3/XBox 360 so that suggests it won’t be a DLC for the original game…
MrYd
Well, that suggests there’s a complete edition with the original game plus the expansion for that price. Which doesn’t necessarily mean the DLC won’t be available separately.
On the other hand, since they haven’t said it _will_ be available on it’s own, I’m just going to assume it isn’t and they’re being a bunch of cockwombles who just want more money.

Good news, been looking forward to this.

I’ve been putting off buying D3, but this may be the catalyst for me.
