Bloober Team, the developer behind Basement Crawl, has made a pledge to rebuild the game after incredibly poor reviews and a variety of technical issues. At the moment the game currently has a metacritic score of just 27, making it the lowest scored game on the PlayStation 4. In an effort to apologise to those who did buy Basement Crawl the team has decided that these people will receive this new build for free.
Speaking to GameSpot Bloober Team’s Marc Colhoun said:
“We have been rebuilding the game, completely from scratch and on a new engine.I know that this isn’t really the way things are usually done in the industry, but I think that if you have put a bad product out to people it is your job to do what you can to fix that. Even if it means going back to the drawing board on a game that has already been released.”
While the rebuild is going on the studio will be contacting as many of the original buyers as possible to get some feedback, as well as ideas on how to improve Basement Crawl. There are also plans to release a patch for the current build too to address the issues, and if you don’t want the new version of the game.
