Behaviour Interactive has announced which “basic” playable classes will feature in upcoming massively multiplayer online shooter, Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade.
Classes are split between the game’s four main factions including Space Marines, Orks, Chaos Space Marines, and Eldar.
Space Marines will have access to the Tactical, Devastator, Assault, and Apothecary classes, their Chaos counterpart sporting a similar selection with the Tactical, Havoc, Raptor, and Aspiring Sorcerer.
Over in the Ork camp we have the appropriately named Shoota, ‘Eavy/Loota, Stormboy, and Painboy.
Finally the Eldar are coming in full force with the Dire Avenger, Fire Dragon, Dark Reaper, Swooping Hawk, Howling Banshee, Striking Scorpion, and Warlock classes.
Lead Designer, Brent Ellison, explained why the Eldar faction has so many options. In a nutshell, their combat roles are more defined whereas Marines and Orcs are more flexible, meaning they can suit multiple positions in a fire team.
Other classes will be made available, including various Hero and Elite options for each faction. These specialised units will be treated differently though Behaviour Interactive has yet to give a full overview of how its MMOFPS will work.
