Japanese Version Of The Evil Within Will Get DLC To Make It As Gory As The Western Release

The Evil Within will be an incredibly gory game, if the various looks at it are anything to go by. However, the Japanese version has been toned back a bit due to the age rating business over there, getting a CERO D rating instead of CERO Z. For the former you have to be over 17, while Z buyers have to be over 18. This would no doubt disappoint some fans, but ZeniMax has decided to make the gory content that would have made the game a CERO Z available as DLC, called Gore Mode.

Tetsu Takahashi, ZeniMax Asia’s GM said he following.

“The Evil Within will have two types of CERO D and CERO Z, with both of them having passed the CERO inspections, but the retail version will only be done using the CERO D version. Those who preorder the game can also get the CERO Z version’s representation through the Gore Mode DLC.”

So it appears the Gore Mode will be available as a preorder bonus, which makes me wonder what will those who don’t pre-order have to do? Will it cost them to unlock some extra blood and gore for the scenery? None of this is answered in the interview, and Japanese gamers will have to wait until release to find out by the looks of it.
