Ubisoft has announced that Watch Dogs has shipped 8 million copies since launch to retailers worldwide. There isn’t a mention of how many of those copies have found themselves to consumers, but it must be doing pretty well considering Watch Dogs set the record for number of day one sales for a Ubisoft IP. This report also doesn’t take into consideration of digital copies sold, with the game sitting at the top of the UK charts for three weeks after release.
During May Watch Dogs was also the most popular PS4 download title, though again actual sales numbers weren’t reported. It’s obvious the hype and marketing that went into the game seems to have paid off for the developer. Ubisoft’s fiscal report for the first quarter of 2014-2015 financial year states the company has also reached sales of €360 million, which is up from the €76 million from the same period last year.
Along with Watch Dogs Child Of Light and Trials Fusion also helped push the numbers of digital sales up to €84 million, which is a rise of 149% from last year. The company is doing well but expects income to be down on last year in the second quarter over last due to less releases.
