Tekken 7 Officially Announced After Supposed Leak

Earlier today at Evo 2014 – a yearly video game tournament that focuses on fighting games – Tekken Producer, Katsuhiro Harada, announced to the world that Tekken 7 is on its way, and showed a brief teaser video.

This announcement comes just after the game supposedly leaked via an IGN announcement video that AOL published on their website. The odd thing about that is Harada noted after the official announcement that Tekken 7 was not the game he intended to reveal, and that he only created the announcement trailer after the original leak. Which, of course, leaves everyone to wonder what game was supposed to be shown.

The video doesn’t show any gameplay but does state that additional info will be revealed just a couple of short weeks from now at San Diego Comic-Con. Outside of that, the only other piece of information we have is that it’s coming to next-gen consoles, and is being built with Unreal Engine 4. Harada also stated that using UE4 will make it easier to port to other platforms, so there’s a chance we might eventually see it on PS3 and Xbox 360.

  1. Woohoo, I love me some Tekken. So how many years do we have to wait?

  2. Always liked the tekken games. I wonder if Tekken vs Sf will ever happen?

    • There was Street Fighter X Tekken. Are you referring to the opposite one (Tekken X Street Fighter)? After this long I suspect that will end up being canned.

      • That’s anyone’s guess, it was always going to be far more challenging bringing SF characters into a 3D universe. And Tekken characters have many more moves to choose from so balancing would be a nightmare.

      • Yes the opposite one. I kinda enjoyed Sf v Tekken but was more looking forward to namco’s effort. Last I heard was Harada saying it was in the very early stages and that was probably well over a year ago. Looks like they abandoned it.

  3. That sounds like Tekken X Street Fighter is a bust. SF X T wasn’t the best, but I thought Ryu is the realm of Tekken would have been interesting to say the least.
