F1 2014 Officially Confirmed, Full Details Rolling Out Tomorrow

Codemasters has been rather quiet on the subject of F1 2014, but fans don’t have that much longer to wait as all the details will be released tomorrow. The news was broadcast on the Codies League Championship stream, which is on Twitch right now, though no platforms were confirmed. So we don’t know yet whether F1 2014 will be a cross generational title, a last gen title only like GRID Autosport, or a new generation game.

You’ll have to keep an eye on the official Facebook page or Twitter account, or you could wait for us to post all the details. Expect some kind of trailer and a potential release period if not a solid release date. I’d put my guess at around a September or October release personally.

  1. Daft company. Announce the game at the half way point of the season which means it won’t come out till after this season which means it’ll be out of date when it releases just like 2013 was. Why don’t they just crack on with 2015 and release at the start of the season like every other sports game does

    • They’ve done it like this for the last few years, announcing the game in the summer and then releasing in late September or early October (not that we know that’s how it’s going to happen for this release). Historically, F1 games have always come out well after the start of the season.

Thing is it’s not like FIFA. They can’t go scan a face in and then swap a player from one team to another. They have to wait until the Melbourne GP to know how each car really looks and everything they do has to be approved by the teams and FOM. Then there’s the new tracks which are added each year, but are only ever completed a few months before they’re raced on, and the crazy rules changes, like double points.

Even if they waited until 2015, they’d have to start from scratch on new cars, add in the rule change for standing restarts, get down to recreating the Mexican Grand Prix etc. etc.

  2. Sorry, already played it many times. Same game every year. In fact, every CodeMasters racing game is the same. Certainly the same hazy orange-tinted graphics.

Roll on DriveClub. You better deliver.

    • I was dead excited for Driveclub but now I’m not so sure about it. No official tracks is a massive disappointment for me.

  3. Took their time announcing this! Massive F1 fan so this is a definite purchase for me.

    • Same here, but it’s a shame it’ll be released around the same time as Drive Club, Project Cars and The Crew, all games I want.

  4. Let’s just hope this time tomorrow it’s not a repeat of Grid Autosport with a XB1 and PS4 no show :-/

    • I cannot see Codies going down the same root as Grid Autosport. There’ll be a larger install base of this gen consoles and with a probable release date of Sept/Oct the holiday season will be just around the corner where new consoles sell well.

    • The reason Autosport was not on PS4 or XB1 was because Codies wanted to right their wrongs from GRID 2. A last hurrah for the old consoles. :)

      I’m sure there’ll be a PS4 and XB1 release for F1 2014. :D
