Repel The Invasion As Falling Skies Launches This October

Falling Skies is a rather good television show based on the premise of a human resistance fighting against an alien occupation of Earth, with many parallels made to humanity’s own history. I enjoy it, even some of the cheesier scenes, and like the concept enough to watch multiple episodes a day. However, even I’m a bit wary of the game, which looks like it was heavily inspired by XCOM: Enemy Unknown.

The events of the game take place between season three and four, and the cast of the show are providing their voices to the project. Falling Skies The Game will also have a limitless supply of side missions, centred around fighting back against the alien incursion. Speaking of aliens the game will feature new types that haven’t appeared in the show itself. The game is coming to PS3, Xbox 360 and on PC through Steam.

  1. Not that it’s necessarily a bad thing, but that is literally an XCOM clone… :-P

    • From Wiki: X-COM (sometimes stylized as X-Com) is a science fiction video game franchise featuring the titular fictional organization tasked with countering alien invasions of Earth.

  2. I recently ditched the TV show because I just cant handle any more Spielberg cheese in my diet. It was a really good premise, but oh my god its so american in its home town schmaltz and it guts me deeply that shows like this get automatically renewed just because they have a big Hollywood name attached to it even tho the stories and characters are mind numbingly stupid, while actually quite interesting shows (Revolution, most recently) get cancelled.

Also, it really looks just like an XCOM clone.
