One of the nice surprises from Gamescom was the reappearance of Ninja Theory, who most recently released DmC: Devil May Cry, with a brand new game in tow. Though some of the additional excitement about this may have come from some of the visual similarities to Heavenly Sword, Hellblade, is a completely separate and new entity.
What’s fascinating is just how small scale the team working on this was, sticking to a very tight budget as Ninja Theory are looking to self-publish the game, but also the freedom that modern technology is able to give to realise such a vision and within such a short space of time.
Ninja Theory are aiming to be quite open during development, and you can check out their dev diary here.

A lovely take on how they’re developing it. Hope it goes well and shows how other devs might be able to take the plunge into a publisher-free world.

Enjoyed watching this, does give a bit more insight into how everything starts to come together.

Looking forward to seeing some proper gameplay once they’ve developed it a bit further, but going on Heavenly Sword the combat should be pretty good.
