Xbox One Kinect Sensor To Officially Be Available From October 7th

Microsoft has announced the release date for the standalone Xbox One Kinect, with October 7th being the release date. A price for the device was also revealed and it will retail at $149.99, with the inclusion of Dance Central Spotlight as part of a bundle.  A price for European markets is yet to be revealed. If you’re in the US you can buy a Xbox One with Kinect for $485 at Amazon, while the Kinectless version costs $399.

Microsoft did also recently confirm that since the Kinectless option was available Xbox One sales doubled in North America, though there was also an increase in the rate of sales for the Kinect bundle too. The $149.99 price point has likely been selected to get some extra profit from those who buy the $399 console option for the initial saving, and then decide to get the device later on down the road. If you don’t fancy spending that much you can already get them second hand, with CEX USA selling the Xbox One Kinect for $75, while the UK side sells it for £25.

  1. Probably best to grab one from CEX now if you bought an XB1 solo and think you might use the camera after all – CEX will most likely push their price up once the Kinect 2 goes on sale in the UK.

  2. $150 – bargain! I guess that that equates to £150 at the special exchange rate used for consumer electronics. That’s definitely not overpriced compared to the competition.

  3. The horrible fanboy in me used to secretly enjoy all the Xbox mis-steps but I think all the bad press might kill the Kinect, and without anything like Morpheus the Xbox is going to fall really far behind, and this can only be bad for games.

  4. Sold mine for £45 at Game though I’m not sure what they sell them at.

  5. Hooray!

    Said nobody ever.

  6. So why would anyone but the solo console and then go out and buy this, its way more expensive then buying the two bundled together?? Am i missing something here?
