Telltale’s Game Of Thrones Launching This Year

Telltale Games’ latest project, set in the brutal fantasy world of G.R.R Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire, will debut earlier than expected: this year, in fact.

According to Telltale’s PR specialist, Laura Perusco, the Game of Thrones spin-off will be available to download during Q4 2014:

Considering how little we’ve heard about the game, we’re even more curious to see what Telltale has been up to having just finished work on both The Walking Dead: Season Two and The Wolf Among Us. Bar a couple of vague teasers, we’ve literally seen nothing – not even a screenshot. With that said, it’s fair to predict that Telltale won’t be moving away from its trademark story-driven formula.

Up until now, games based on the popular novels and TV show have been fairly hit and miss. Following the release of a mediocre strategy game, Cyanide (Styx: Master of Shadows) launched an RPG back in 2012 that also fell short of the mark. This year, however, we saw Game of Thrones: Ascension arrive on mobile devices. Though a decent game, fans have been pining for a proper adaptation from the industry’s established roster of acclaimed studios. We can only hope that Telltale delivers, despite the overwhelming pressure.
