Zombies For Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare Requires Season Pass

The Zombie mode in Call Of Duty has been a very popular addition since its inception in World At War. Since then it has appeared in both Black Ops titles, and now it has been confirmed for Advanced Warfare. However, there is a catch as this once free additional mode has now been locked behind the latest Call Of Duty’s Season Pass. However, in the Exo Survial co-op mode a zombie wave does appear as long as you have unlocked every map available. The news comes from a press release sent by GameStop about the pass, which costs £35.

“This just in, Zombies are back as part of the Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare season pass! Stop by any GameStop to pick up one of the most anticipated games to launch this year, along with 4-multiplayer map packs, Atlas Gorge, and yes – ZOMBIES. All this is available for purchase today GameStop as part of the Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare season pass for only $49.99.”

For those of you who are also interested in the resolution of Advanced Warfare across the new generation of consoles, it is 1080p native on PS4, and scalable to 1080p on the Xbox One. Both versions will run at 60fps.

UPDATE: Activision have said GameStop’s statement was incorrect and the Season Pass is not the only way to get to the undead. “Players will be able to access the zombies content via DLC, same as in prior years,” Kyle Walker, a spokesperson for Activision told Tech News World.

  1. I’ll make do without, thanks. I’m becoming increasingly tired of DLC shenanigans, other than the Resogun expansion and Left Behind I’ve not bought DLC.

It’s usually quite obvious when content has been held back rather than built as an extra after the main game was finished, and this smacks of the former.

    • It will probably be on the game disc and installed you just have to pay to unlock it.

Another frustrating element of modern games. Discovering Destiny’s DLC areas prior to them launching just highlighted this cash-minded buffoonery.

I might not mind if the base game was cheaper but they are all more expensive nowadays :(

  2. These developers are slapping us gamers in the face every chance they get .. I see no end to this trend why don’t we all at the same time empty or savings n checking n just fork it over in advance

  3. I’d take this news with a pinch of salt until we hear anything official.
Gamestop is the only retailer mentioning anything about Zombies.
Why would Activision not mention Zombies when they announced the season pass? Given how popular it is you think they’d say something to boost season pass sales.

  4. Take one of the most anticipated and enjoyable features then lock it behind a paywall… That’s a bit sickening.

How many more COD games before Activision decide you need to buy a season pass to play multiplayer (on top of PS+\XBox Live) I wonder…? Testing the waters?

Unless Zombies doesn’t come with the base game but is set to be part of the first DLC pack. In which case, I can kinda understand it. If it’s classed as DLC coz the devs didn’t consider it initially, it’s hardly surprising it’ll be chargeable.

  5. Actually, the more I think about it, the more I think this is just being misinterpreted/misreported – my guess is you can buy Zombies mode as DLC but if you have the season pass it’ll be included along with the map packs.

I dont know if the season pass is “required” for zombies mode, rather that the season pass covers it too.

  6. SLAGS!

  7. Next year will see the release of Call of Duty: Flailing Fists where all weapons (both campaign and multiplayer mode) will be available as day zero DLC. All yours, for only an extra £34.99! You mark my words.

  8. I have the season pass and haven’t been able to find any Zombies, there are various rumors like you have to complete the campaign before it’s available, rumors also of a hell based mode with pentagrams painted in blood on walls and such,i know at the end of the exo survival a DNA bomb goes off turning enemies into fast moving zombie type things but that is supposedly only one level.

  9. And not one person took the resolution bait regarding the footnote comment :D

    • It might be bait for some people but wasn’t put out as bait, I’m sure. However, I’m thinking that so many of us are used to the situation with most multi-plats these days that everyone’s either tired of it or didn’t care in the first place.

Fingers crossed it becomes more accepted (that the Xbox One might struggle with certain titles) but will still supply a great experience for whomever chooses to game on it. Obviously if they achieve something resembling parity then all the better although there’ll always be some other tasty morsel to get in a froth about. :-)

      • Couldn’t have put it more objectively if I tried.
