Duke Nukem 3D: Megaton Edition Not Out Till January

Did you grab the Duke Nukem 3D: Megaton Edition for PS3 and PS Vita from the PlayStation store yesterday? Well if you did, lucky you, you got the game two months before it was meant to be released.

The listing on the EU PlayStation seems to have been a mistake, Devolver Digital say the game’s official release date is January 13th in North America and January 14th in Europe.

The game has now been removed from the store and Devolver tweeted the following:

  1. I wonder why they want to release in the post Christmas dead zone?
Surely if the games ready now why not keep it on sale?
I suppose they could be waiting for a simultaneous release if the US version isn’t ready yet.

    • Or as you say, they want to release in the dead zone when not much else is about – More people are likely to pick it up if nothing else is around to tickle their pickle at the time.

  2. I was disappointed when i heard yesterday that it had been removed but when i looked on the (Irish) store about 2am this morning it was still available! :)

  3. Selecting it on the vita store last night just gave an error code. Will have to wait a bit longer to buy it.

  4. I’m one of the lucky buggers who grabbed before they took it off. It runs perfectly on Vita and I don’t see why they couldn’t have just released it now, they probably have some strict release schedule they wanna follow or something

  5. weird situation, it’s clearly finished, people who managed to get it have reported it running just fine, so why hold it back for 2 months?

  6. It was pulled at their request, apparently they have a “fully coordinated campaign ready for a January release”. http://i.imgur.com/LNzvPg8.jpg

I’m curious as to what kind of marketing they’re going to put Duke Nukem 3D through, it’s not exactly going to be the game which kids see and think they must have.
