TSA Community Game of the Year 2014: Vote Now!

Here at TSA, we often think of you lot as part of the team. Whether it’s discussing the latest news in the comments section, talking about the latest releases with us on Twitter or laughing at my terrible driving on a live stream, you help to make TSA what it is. You also help to keep the staff amused as they put in the vast amount of effort required to take our little website out onto the internet where it competes with the rich and famous in UK games media quite comfortably.

So it’s only fitting that we should want to hear what your standout games of 2014 were as well as sharing our own. We’ve compiled our lists and the staff all voted last week – our Game of the Year features will start shortly and run all over the Christmas break – but now it’s your turn. We want you to vote in the same categories that we did and when all the results are in and counted, we’ll make them look pretty and present them in a big TSA Community Game of the Year article just before the end of 2014.

We’ll leave the voting open for one week, so please have the form submitted by 3PM on Friday the 19th of December. You don’t have to vote in every category and each drop down list should feature a handy “Other” option that will allow you to enter something that we’ve not included in the lists. Please also note that we decided to exclude remakes, rereleases and remasters from our considerations in all of the categories, although that doesn’t mean we forgot about them entirely.

Please only vote once, as subsequent votes will not be counted.

Voting is now closed.

  1. Had to leave a fair few as no vote, which made me realise how few games I’ve actually played from this year. I did give LBP3 a couple of reluctant votes; despite it’s bugginess, it’s a great game (if a little short)

  2. Can’t believe you haven’t got Train Fever in the list for best sim of the year! :-)

  3. It’s been the worst year for gaming in as long as I can remember tbh. Hardly played anything out of the lists really, so not gonna vote this year. Games I HAVE enjoyed in 2014… Watch Dogs, Wolfenstein, Peggle 2, AC Unity, Alien & Far Cry 4.

  4. Rogue Legacy’s soundtrack was just perfect for the game so voted for that. In contrast to the comment above I’ve had an enjoyable years gaming, destiny, driveclub, wolfenstein, mordor, alien, PES 15 have all been great and the addition of survival mode to resogun have all kept me very busy.

  5. Wow, I’ve missed out a lot this year! The best I’ve played is definitely Watch Dogs, great game.

  6. Game of the year to me is Dust an Elsyian tail. I can’t believe it’s not even on the list. I know is oldish but I’d never played it and it’s new to PlayStation.

  7. Of all the new releases Ive played this year:

    The Last of Us Remastered
    Watch Dogs
    Lego Movie Video Game
    Tomb Raider Definitive Edition
    Alien Isolation
    Child of Light
    AC Rogue
    Dead Nation Apocolypse Edition
    Destiny
    inFamous Second Son
    inFamous First Light
    Dont Starve
    Outlast
    The Walking Dead Season 2
    The Wolf Among Us

Taking remasters and remakes out of the equation, Alien Isolation has to be my game of the year.

Followed closely by Child of Light.

What a crappy year though looking back. I still have a few games to catch up on, when I find the time:

    LBP3
    Shadow of Mordor
    GTA V
    Far Cry 4
    AC Unity
    Halo MCC
    Sunset Overdrive

But still, pretty poor year tbh.

  8. I have played some great games this year, which include Watchdogs,Killzone shadowfall,Infamous Second Son but some of the smaller games have captured me.My GOTY has to be Resogun, i was truly addicted to this game.

  9. Had to give Shadow of Mordor the top spot (sorry Lewis), as it’s the biggest surprise game for me. I didn’t expect much from it but just how Destiny is an amazing shooter from its mechanics but a bit thin elsewhere, Shadow of Mordor has amazing stealth and combat mechanics. They haven’t used them to their full potential, but shadow of mordor could be something really special. It’s got a solid founation for a new IP.

  10. You need a category for biggest disappointment of the year too. Its a shame that most games released this year have been a massive let down. You would probably have more choice in that category than an of the others listed too :)

I had to vote Shadow of Mordor. Theres no way i could vote for destiny, the game is so thin and repetitive that it doesn’t even deserve a nomination. If ever there was an example of game being ripped apart for DLC, this is it no matter what bungie say to the contrary. Then they have the check to ask £20 for dlc that contains 2 missions and a strike, not to mention forcing it on people by making DLC only weekly strikes etc.
