Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires Gets A Free-To-Play Edition

Tecmo Koei has revealed that Dynasty Warriors 8:Empires will be available as a full priced product and as cut down, free-to-play version on both the Xbox and PlayStation networks.

Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires Free Alliances Version will launch next month and will allow players to use Edit and Free Modes. As a bonus, PS Plus subscribers will get access to Empire Mode and online play with Free Mode.

As you might expect, there will be plenty of opportunities to spend your cash via in-game microtransactions.

The full priced product launches this Friday in the UK on PS3, PS4 and Xbox One.

  1. So is this really just a demo with the option to buy all the extra bits for more than the full game would cost? Like last week’s Dead or Alive thing which was “free with £4000 of DLC available”. But possibly with less tits.

It could be useful for anyone who hasn’t experienced the chaos of a musou game. Give it a go and then go and pick up a copy of Samurai Warriors 4 for cheap.

I’d be more interested in the announcement that Dragon Quest Heroes is coming west this year.

    • Yeah, first thoughts after the same company’s attempt to do a free to play Dead or Alive are “Oh, a demo then.” I picked up the full game, on disc for more than a tenner less than it costs to unlock all the characters on that.
