Well, there you go – Titanfall 2 exists and it will be a multiplatform release, presumably launching on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Respawn CEO Vince Zampella confirmed the news, stating that while there’s no official name yet, it’s the main focus of the studio at the moment.
“I guess EA announced a sequel, so I could play coy and pretend I don’t know anything about it, or… yeah. So we’re working on a sequel. No official name yet, but we’re working on that. That’s the main focus but we’re starting up a second team and doing some smaller stuff too. Small, exploratory, taking it slow! It’ll be multiplatform.”
The decision for Titanfall to be an Xbox console exclusive was purely from a business sense, Zampella confirmed, but they “needed that” for the game to come to fruition. He then went on to defend the first game’s multiplayer-only approach, stating that they “wouldn’t have done it differently”.
It also looks like DLC maps for the second Titanfall game might be free, rather than splitting the community, with Zampella praising Evolve’s approach and stating that while they can’t confirm that’s how it’ll be, their idea is “to do something different”.

Lovely stuff. Really enjoyed the original on PC. Hopefully going multiplatform will mean that Titanfall 2 wont fade from relevance just months after launch.
Starman
Nice, was hoping this would be announced soon. As long as they just expand on the game and don’t add single player I’ll be happy.

Don’t add multiplayer? I got it in the EA sale last month and enjoyed it, but thought that, with the interesting universe that they’ve created, a 6 hour SP campaign would fit perfectly.
Anyway, by the sounds of it, 2017 at the earliest. Interested what other project they have been working on with ex god of war lead Stig Asmussen.
Starman
I’ve grown weary of the generic fps campaigns these days and would rather all development time was focused on adding to what they made with the first one.

I put many hours into BF4 multiplayer, but I was highly impressed by its thrilling singleplayer. Bought Advanced Warfare purely for the sp and was not disappointed. Just picked up ghosts and it’s got some good moments.
I can see what you’re getting at with resources taking away from multiplayer, but sometimes, it helps, I’m sure big single-player set piece events influenced levolution in Battlefield.
Starman
I more prefer the old school shooters like doom where you just go along mullering everyone rather than the squad based “stop every 2 minutes for a chat” type thing, though I know I’m in the minority.
Lieutenant Fatman
I love Doom, one of my favourite games ever. Excited to see some footage of the upcoming game. Hope it’s a lot closer to the first two than Doom 3.
Andrewww
The first one was overhyped, so I’m not to bothered, actually. They regretted going Xbox exclusive, didn’t they officially say that at one point?
JR.
Yep they did. And something tells me Crystal Dynamics will be saying the same thing next year about Tomb Raider. I’ll be buying TR myself but I have to stay true to my values and buy it used. Nobody takes TR away from Playstation and get’s off lightly, nobody.
MrYd
Why does all this “We had to be XBox exclusive and we’ll defend our MP only choice” stuff suggest to me that what he really means is “Is it too late to sell that PS4 version of the first game before the sequel now? And would you like a proper single player mode with that?”
Or maybe they’ll release the PS4 version of the first game and nobody will care by that point. I suspect a PS4 Titanfall 2 is going to be a hard sell as it is.
Lieutenant Fatman
I like mechs, but I want a decent single player game or I probably won’t bother with it.

SP is first and foremost for me. Multiplayer is a bonus.

The first one sucked, I remember playing it & I didn’t know who was human & who was the robot.
Foxhound_Solid
Brother had it on pc. Got boring, fast. Needs a solid campaign and more layers. I think the second outing is going to struggle.
To be fair we don’t need it on PS4. Also, thought it was only imaginable to see this using the green teams cloud?
Thanks, but no thanks….
Amphlett
I’ll take a punt and say that either Sony have boosted their cloud processing power or that PR bull that MS and Respawn put out about the first game only being possible through use of the MS cloud superpowers was just that, bull.
Stefan L
Cloud processing can be done by anyone. The thing that Microsoft wanted to push was that they have their own cloud computing service, and with the exclusivity deal this allowed Respawn to get up and running quickly without having to invest in extensive infrastructure for this particular game.
Whatever they do with Titanfall 2’s network infrastructure, it will be on EA’s shoulders to provide that, rather than Microsofts.
double-o-dave
Yeah but, they said an epic game such as Titan Fall was only possible on the Xbox One due to the power of The Almighty Cloud?!!!! Surely they weren’t telling porkies, pissing on our backs, then telling us it’s raining?
Back to reality… I wasn’t interested in the first one and highly doubt I’ll be interested in a sequel.
blackarts
Microsoft telling lies? It wouldnt be the first or last time. The Xbox one has been a constant stream of about turns, white lies, cherry picked stats and outright blatent lies.

A revolutionary service on android that Microsoft are releasing that tells you when you need to leave for your flight… Just like Google Now has done for 2 years.
Stay tuned for tomorrows blatant lie..

Microsoft truly are an embarrassing mess, they spin all this crap out hopes someone is stupid enough to believe it.. Starman is, anyone else??
Starman
Ha ha, you never disappoint! On ms lying, they learnt from the best and we know who that is!
minerwilly
Don’t like call of duty and so am unwilling to try this as I’ve heard its very similar but with jetpacks.
Starman
Don’t let that put you off, I too don’t like CoD but played Titanfall way more than anything else last year. There’s no camping like on CoD and getting into your Titan is awesome.
