Gearbox Details How Cross Saving Will Work For Borderlands: The Handsome Collection

Gearbox Software has released information on how players will be able to transfer their saves of Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel from the last gen to the new gen. The process will require all updates to be downloaded for both generations, so if you haven’t played your PS3 or Xbox 360 version in a while it might be an idea to download patches now if you plan on upgrading.

The steps are as follows once those patches are installed:

• From the main menu of the PS3 or Xbox 360 versions of BL2 or BL:TPS, choose the “Cross Save” (PlayStation consoles) or “Cloud Save” (Xbox consoles), then “Upload Save” function.
• Once the save has been uploaded, choose “Cross Save” or “Cloud Save” then “Download Save” from the main menu of the PS4 / Xbox One Handsome Collection game.

Transfers can only be done within console families, so no PS3 to Xbox One or 360 to PS4 exchanges are possible. Multiple save transfers are not an option either, so if you have more than one you’ll have to repeat the steps over and over. This process will not delete the original saves, so need to worry about that.

All player mission progress, stats, loot, BadAss points, cash, and weapon slots will be transferred over, but items in Claptrap’s Secret Stash will not. Trophies and achievements also will not be transferred over so you’ll have to unlock those again. Golden Key balances are another thing that will not make the jump but there is a bonus available if you do transfer your save.

These rewards apply to both Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. The collection is due for release on March 24th in North America, and March 27th in Europe.
