Capcom Reveal Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition Content

Capcom have revealed fresh details about Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition, as well as a trailer showing the improvements made fore the re-release. The game will be available as a digital download on PC, PS4 and Xbox One this summer.

The special edition is set to include the original 2008 release and three new playable characters, Trish, Lady and Vergil, in addition to the already playable Dante and Nero. There will also be Legendary Dark Knight Mode as well as additional improvements to the gameplay. Capcom also announced that the game will have “powered-up visuals on PC and next gen consoles, supporting 1080p resolution, stunning high-res textures and smooth 60fps.”

The ladies of the series will also take centre stage in DMC4 making this the largest roster of playable characters in any DMC game to date.

“Players are now able to control the action as the mysterious Trish taking on Dante’s missions in the main story and, for the first time ever in the Devil May Cry series, the demon hunter Lady taking on Nero’s missions.”

Look out for more details on a solid release date soon.

  1. Very unexpected, I thought it was Capcom’s intention to overwrite the Dante character and pretend the original never existed. But now we have this, how curious.

    • DMC was a reboot of the series/character, but they haven’t once said that the intention was to completely overwrite Dante as he was. It was just a slightly different direction on the newer game was all.

Reboots are never intended to replace the originals, they are just a different take on the story/characters is all.

  2. This sounds like it has enough in it to interest me – It’s also a lot older than other remakes that have surfaced, so enough time/games has/have probably passed for this to feel fresh again.

Don’t want to download it though. Disc release please… & around the £20 price point please.

  3. I too would like a physical release. It wouldn’t bother me if it’s only PS4 and skips the xbox one.

  4. I know people may have missed these games on previous consoles but it feels like all of the remaster business is getting a little out of hand now.

  5. Why DMC 4? Why not remake the original games? DMC 4 is generally considered to be a weak DMC game due to laziness by Capcom. Half of the game is literally the same stages as Dante. The special edition for PS4 and X1 is either a desperate attempt to make more cash by relying on the power of the fanbase or they are testing the waters to see if fans want the classic Dante back. I doubt the PC version will sell well due to mods pretty much beating them to the punch. But i would love to see another Devil May Cry game with the classic Dante whilst improving on the gameplay and plot.

But if it’s just an attempt of milking a dead cow, they are several years too late.

  6. Love all the DMC games. New and Old versions. Currently enjoying replaying DmC all remastered and turbo charged. It’s awesome.
