It’s a slightly strange update this week, coming in the wake of the lengthy Easter weekend. Sure, we’ve got new games out, but the biggest hitters are indie titles that starred on other platforms in the past. The critically acclaimed and simply gorgeous action RPG Bastion falls from the sky onto PS4 today, while Stealth Inc. 2 slinks onto all three current PlayStation platforms at once – and you can read our impressions of its transition here.
Elsewhere, you should be sure to grab your monthly dose of gaming from the PlayStation Plus Instant Game Collection, with Aaru’s Awakening, Tower of Guns and MonsterBag all new games that are heading straight into the IGC. I’m tempted by Bastion, but every indie or PSN game I’ve bought ends up going in a Sale within 3-6 months, so I’ll probably hold off for now and wait for the next sale.

I’m sure I picked it up in a Steam sale ages ago for some silly price. I might just buy it again when the PS4 version is on sale. It’s a fairly good game which somehow turned into something special just because of that narrator. But £11.99 for a 4 year old indie game? When you know it’ll be on sale in a couple of months, and then on PS+ a couple of months later?

Exactly. I have it on my iPhone (although I find that kind of game unplayable with touch-screen controls), and it was only a few quid. I would like to play it again but not at that price. Not saying there’s not a lot of content etc, but almost everything ends up in the sale at some point. Given this games’ age, it’s almost certain to end up on PS+ at some point as you say! Alternatively I might wait for the Vita version to release.

With the PS+ games, I’m going to have to avoid being tempted by anything else.
Struggling with Killzone: Mercenary though. Looks gorgeous for a Vita game, but an FPS on a handheld is still not a great experience.
And I think Tower of Guns is about to suck me in horribly. Nice to see an old fashioned shooter where stealth (or standing still for more than 3 nanoseconds) isn’t an option. Reading the “story” because they obviously couldn’t afford to record any voices isn’t really an option either. Well, it is, but you die. And then have to avoid the “one more go” temptation.
Unlike Aaru’s Awakening, which already has that “I’ll die 73 times and then come back another day” feel about it. And could have done without voices. (Worst voice acting ever?). Certainly a challenging game, but at least the endless deaths are entirely your own fault.
And Never Alone is a surprise.
Now, can someone explain WTF MonsterBag is?
