In case you missed it over the weekend, 2k caused quite a stir when they announced that all online services for NBA 2K14 would be taken offline a mere 15 months after its launch. It was bad enough that gamers who plopped down good money for the game would no longer be able to play online, but the cease of online server functionality also meant that career mode game saves were being ‘retired’.
Thankfully, after quite a bit of internet outrage, 2K have brought all services for NBA 2K14 back online. They don’t specifically mention if the game saves that were to be ‘retired’ will be available again, but we’re assuming that’s the case. In the wake of this controversy, 2K have also revised their online policies to keep services going for all NBA 2K games for a few extra months, as address in their statement to Gameinformer below.
Beginning today, we are extending the support of all NBA 2K servers from 18 to 27 months following each release, giving our players more time to experience and enjoy the highest rated NBA simulation video game franchise. The opinions of our community continue to have a positive impact on our business decisions as we strive to create the best possible experience for all of our fans.
It’s a little disheartening that it took a bit of a scandal to show 2K the error in their ways here, but at least the game is back online and gamers can enjoy it for a bit longer before being forced to upgrade.

Not that I am one to pick holes (I totally am!), but the first sentence seems to be a little misleading;

The way that this sounds is that they have finally added online functionality 15 months after launch, but I am guessing they were in fact suggesting taking it offline?
