Square Enix has issued a thank you to its fans, announcing that Final Fantasy Type-0 HD has shipped one million copies around the globe. Originally released exclusively on the PlayStation Portable back in 2011, the game was re-launched on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 last month with improved visuals.

In our review we gave the HD makeover a solid eight out of ten, praising its simple yet fun combat mechanics. Although many of Type-0s original PSP assets gave it some rough edges, these were relatively easy to overlook considering the amount of effort put into revitalising many of its character models – not to mention the addition of English audio.
This latest news will no doubt provide fans with more ammunition to speculate on a potential sequel. Before taking charge on Final Fantasy XV, it is reported that director Hajime Tabata and his team had already began production on a follow-up.

That’s all well and good, but even though I’m incredibly hyped for FF Versus, I couldn’t make myself pay over fourty pounds for a PSP remake.
Some of the pricing this gen is just crazy, like the massive gap between the new version of Dark Souls 2 on PS3 and PS4. At least it’s slowing the growth of my backlog.

Publishers/distributors are always going to try and peddle a boxed product at the retail average (around £40). Bit cheeky but there’s a decent chunk of gamers who won’t know they are being sold a budget title for top whack prices.
As for Type-0, I think I would pay around the £35-40 top end. Square has done a lot to make the original version feel at home on new systems.
