343 Industries has confirmed that the campaign for Halo 3: ODST will release next month for The Master Chief Collection. The upcoming update will also bring in the Relic map from Halo 2. These two additions are part of an apology from 343 Industries due to the problems Halo: The Master Chief Collection has had with online connectivity for multiplayer. The ODST campaign and Relic map will be freely available to those who bought and played The Master Chief Collection before the 19th of December 2014.
For those outside of the claim period both Halo 3: ODST’s campaign and the Relic map will be available for purchase, though the exact release date and price won’t be confirmed until closer to the time. ODST is expected to run at 60fps and have a resolution of 1080p. It is good to see the developers reacted to the outcry of the problems by releasing free items, though the cut off point was obviously calculated so those who received the game for Christmas missed out on the promotion.

Nice to be getting this for free, though I’d have purchased it too, a nice break from typical Halo campaigns.
Halo MCC and Driveclub have both been a mess at launch but have certainly made up for it since. Great examples of apologies when things have gone wrong. The 500k from RockStar during last gens GTA5 release was also welcome. However, it would be great to just see games working as they should from day one.
Better get 1-4 polished off before ODST hits then….but State of Decay is just around the corner :-/

When I first played ODST I didn’t like it much, I found the hub world confusing and spent ages going in circles.
But then I went back to it, and suddenly everything clicked. I don’t know where I’d rank it with the other Halo games, but I had real fun with it once I “got” the hub-level design.
I look forward to revisiting it on Xbone. Hopefully it’ll be a better port than Halo 3 and 4.

Am I the only one who thinks it’s unfair that I paid full price yet didn’t play this before the date. Therefore I won’t get this?

It’s compensation for the broken online, hence only for those that ‘played’ the game on the said date rather than just bought. Fair enough I’d say.

May sound harsh, but I don’t really find it that unfair. Seems a little strange to me that you would buy it at full price & not play it, as you just aren’t getting the value for money otherwise (as looking at it that way, you probably could have just bought it around now for dirt cheap & not played it!).
I mean, it could be that life commitments got in the way or something, but I don’t think that they can be expected to account for that.
Besides that though, this was by way of apology for those that played & were affected by the issues that the game had when it launched – So as you haven’t played it, it would probably be safe to assume you didn’t have those problems?

It was an Xmas present, I got the special edition version. Thing is the game is still pretty much broken to this day.
Hence why I find it a bit unfair. I’m not going to lose any sleep over it though.
