Disney Infinity 3.0 To Focus On Star Wars Universe

Disney Interactive has officially announced the third instalment in its power-selling “toys-to-life” franchise. Set to launch later this year, Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition will be centred around the Star Wars universe, offering up three substantive play sets.

The first of these is dubbed “Twilight of the Galaxy”, compiling both the prequel trilogy as well as the Clone Wars animated TV show. Expect to find iconic characters including Anakin Skywalker, Darth Maul, Obi Wan Kenobi, and Ahsoka Tano.

The second is based on the original Star Wars movie saga and is titled “Rise Against The Empire”, sporting characters such as Han Solo, Chewbacca, Yoda, Darth Vader, and Princess Leia. The third and final set will come later in the year, inspired by The Force Awakens.

If Star Wars isn’t your jam, Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition will also support a bonus play set for Pixar’s latest flick, Inside Out. Marvel fans will also get to see the Avengers reunite in an Age of Ultron themed play set too.

As for the core game itself, Disney Interactive seems to be changing very little. It sounds as if, once again, players will be given license to roam a series of open worlds, complete with racing and action adventure segments. The Toy Box will also be making a return, allowing users to create their own stages and share them with the rest of the world.

One new feature that did catch our eye is 3.0’s new multiplayer game modes. “Toy Box Speedway” and “Toy Box Takeover” will pit players against one another in pre-built challenges designed with multiplayer in mind. Hopefully, these modes will come tagged with matchmaking support so fans can take the action online.

A starter pack will hit shelves this autumn for $64.99, featuring “Twilight of the Galaxy” as well as the Infinity portal, game, and two figures. Disney Interactive has confirmed that more products are in the works, so don’t be surprised if we see even more figures join the game’s swelling roster.

  1. i guess this means there’s little chance that there’ll be any Star Wars sets for the Lego Dimensions game.
