Koji Igarashi, designer behind the Castlevania series, has announced a new game which is called Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night. It will be a side scrolling action title with exploration and RPG elements, and in it players will control Miriam. She is slowly becoming crystallised thanks to a curse placed upon her by a group of alchemists, and they want to use Miriam’s crystal form as a pathway for demons to invade. While Igarashi has most of the funding in place he turned to Kickstarter to prove there was demand for a game like Bloodstained.
It appears he was right as at time of writing the Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night project has reached $568,202, exceeding the $500,000 mark in just a few hours. The title will get a digital release for the general public, but backers do have the chance to secure a physical edition of the game on PS4, Xbox One, or PC. Since this is early in the game’s life there is no footage, but there is concept art.
According to the goals on Kickstarter the expected release date is set for March 2017, so there is quite a long wait ahead before we get more news on Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night.
