If you’re a Vita or 3DS owner and you love playing football on the move, then this news may disappoint you. EA have confirmed that there are no handheld versions in the works at the present time.
“With regards to FIFA 16 there isn’t a Vita or 3DS version,” explained an EA representative “We don’t have any further detail on the mobile version but will be sure to share with you when we hear more.”
It seems that EA have made the decision recently to not release the next edition on handheld consoles, as last year’s FIFA 15 made an appearance on both handhelds. It is unclear at this time whether there will be future iterations of the series on the consoles but the outlook isn’t positive. There is still a chance for the game to make its way onto mobile devices so there is some hope for footballers on the go.

Nothing big, they would’ve only regurgitated the same old game from last year, and the year before, and the year before that.

Find it amazing they got away with releasing the same game on Vita four times, to be honest.

Yep, it was truly shocking, they could have just patched the first game with updated players and kits.

Shocking indeed. Surely they could just do a ‘mobile’ digital only release at a decent budget price with the new season content? I reckon they could, but EA aren’t willing to pay their dues, so Blatter says non.

There will 100% be a mobile version

Whilst it is a shame, as said before it would only be a regurgitation of FIFA Football, which was released years ago!

No bribe money, no handheld versions. Or Wii U, for that matter.
Such is FIFA apparently.
Seriously though, while I can understand that Vita and Wii U haven’t sold well, surely there’s a market on 3DS? Then again, if they’ve put as much effort into the series on that platform as they did on the Vita, maybe everybody just stopped buying them.
It’s a shame, FIFA Football (the first Vita game) was very impressive. One of the best launch games on Vita, and arguably the best sports game on it (although I am partial to Everybody’s Golf and Virtua Tennis in particular.) If they had just made decent updates to that it surely would have kept selling well (for a Vita game at least).
I daresay if they did something as simple as porting the free to play mobile FUT version to either handheld they’d make a killing.
