Call Of Duty: Black Ops III For PS3 & Xbox 360 Confirmed For November 6th Release

Activision has confirmed the PS3 & Xbox 360 version of Call Of Duty: Black Ops III is in development, with Beenox & Mercenary Technology working on those editions. Since this is the last generation there will be gameplay parts that are taken out, or stripped back. One of the examples given will be that there will not be a four player co-op campaign, though a two player campaign will be viable.

Activision hasn’t gone into detail about what else will be different, but there will be more information regarding those later this year. There was confirmation that the multiplayer beta will not be available on PS3 or Xbox 360, with that instead restricted to PS4, PC & Xbox One. Activision also confirmed that there is no Wii U copy in the works, so anyone who wanted to play on Nintendo’s console will be disappointed.

  1. Thankfully they’re done by different studios again. Advanced warfare really was a big leap technically, whereas ghosts just felt like a pretty and polished last gen game.

  2. Nice that the trilogy can remain on the same consoles as the first entry. Hopefully this is as good as the first black ops.

  3. So matchmaking will be crap like it was in Ghosts and AW due to the player base being split over 5 platforms.
    Well done, Activision.
And, yes, I know Activision are here to make money but it’ll hardly help COD get out of the slump it’s in. They should invest everything in the new-gen versions and make them the best they can be.

    • I never found matchmaking to be an issue (on PS4), but lack of full dedicated servers is still gaming-breaking for me due to lag compensation. Why play competitively when another player may be given a fraction of a second advantage.

  4. Another year that the casual CoD fans won’t need to upgrade then.
