Nate And Sully Are Reunited In E3’s Stunning Uncharted 4 Gameplay Demo

It happened in December and it happened again at E3, as a technical hiccup went a long way to proving that this was a live demo of Uncharted 4. When it’s Naughty Dog and the game looks this good, it just makes it feel all the more impressive, even if it was just a controller struggling to sync to its PS4.

Nate and Sully were reunited for this demo, as they bust open a door into a crowded market place in Madagascar, packed with dozens of people to push through, but with a vast and beautiful vista off to the left. Of course, the bad guys make an appearance, leading to a particularly fluid looking combat sequence, with a lot of options available when it came to moving from one scrap of destructible cover to the next. It’s a little reminiscent of Nepal from Uncharted 2, if you ask me.

But what really impressed was a downhill chase sequence in which Drake was almost certainly in control of a jeep, rather than being on the rails – nothing was explicitly stated, but the video plays out ever-so-slightly differently to what was shown on stage, and a post on Naughty Dog’s site says as much – as he and Sully try to avoid an armoured truck by choosing different paths and streets to head down. The incidental dialogue was absolutely pitch perfect, as well.

And it was all capped off with an audacious attempt to get onto a convoy of vehicles by way of a grappling hook, leading up to an excellent cliffhanger moment.

  1. Now I don’t like to swear, but this is a definite day one purchase cunt.

  2. Although in my office, once it’s 5 o’clock, I’ll be pushing the full screen button and watching this badboy with the speakers on.
