Off the back of the in-engine cinematic trailer released a few weeks ago, Sega and Creative Assembly have posted a look at the gameplay from Total War: Warhammer itself. This is the Battle of Black Fire Pass, which was used for behind closed doors demonstrations at E3, and presents a scripted and narrated walkthrough of what adding Warhammer fantasy elements to the Total War series means.
There’s a truly fantastical setting for the battle, as the huge armies of the Empire and the Greenskins line up against each other – this particular encounter is a Quest Battle that can appear during your campaign. More than just the scale, it shows off things like being able to take direct control and guide a Doom Diver goblin in a suicidal airborne attack, the way that magic can be used in battle and, of course, hero characters, flying units and, of course, the many fantasy units in play.
We can expect to see more of the game at Gamescom and beyond, with the game set for release in 2016, but it’s already looking like a rather faithful attempt at combining the Warhammer universe and the style of play that fans of Total War will be accustomed to.

Looks awesome. Hopefully my PC will be up to scratch by the time this launches.
