With Halo 5 being such a huge game for Microsoft it is hardly a surprise that the company is releasing a new special edition console inspired by the game. The 1TB console, which is grey and black with hints of blue to it, will be releasing on October 20th. That is a week before the launch of Halo 5, though the console does come with a digital edition of the game. That is so players can pre-load Halo 5 meaning there will be no delay on the game’s release day.
The other bonus content will include:
- Uniquely-designed Spartan themed SteelBook®
- Warzone REQ Bundle: 14 Premium Requisition packs
- Halo: The Fall of Reach – Animated Series
- Guardian model by Metal Earth®
- Spartan Locke’s Classified Orders
- Dossiers on Blue Team and Fireteam Osiris
- Xbox Live Gold 14-day Trial – perfect for playing with friends
Speaking of extra content a new collector’s edition for Halo 5 has been announced, called the Pink Mist edition. It is only available at Game in the UK and costs a whopping £449. This doesn’t include an Xbox One console by the way, but a couple of statues and a replica of the Needler gun from Halo.
I think this may be the most expensive collector’s edition ever for a video game. A Halo World Championship was also announced with a prize pool of $1 million, with the Arena mode from Halo 5 being the stage in which players will compete.

Game have had much more expensive ‘one-off’ collectors editions previously, but £450 for mass produced tat is just taking the proverbial.

You can’t blame them. What else do they have after this?
Avenger
Err, Halo 6.

I’d never pay that much for a game…. I know die-hard fans would I guess

Is Microsoft taking the mick with that price? I sincerely hope this doesn’t start a precedent for future collector’s editions.

A steel case for the game but it’s a digital code? That’s a strange one.
I don’t think its the most expensive special edition though, I seem to recall there was a Resident Evil jeep that was several thousand.

Saints Row 4 had a $1,000,000 special edition with crazy extras. I believe a racing game done something similar where you received a car. Might have been need for speed or something.
JoeBoi
Just checked the net, there’s been three crazy special editions in excess of £100,000. Grid 2 was the game with the car.

Well I think Saints Row wins this one then!

That has to be the most ridiculous box of expensive crap so far.
Not even a real copy of the game, just a download. Some sort of animated series that should be on a Blu-ray disc for that price, not a streaming only thing.
And a fancy steelbook case for putting the disc you haven’t got in.
And some cheap looking “commemorative” statue you’re presumably going to want to hide in a cupboard somewhere out of shame and embarrassment.
Don’t get me started on that replica “Needler Gun”, whatever that is. It looks like some sort of insane sex toy designed by a mad man.
JR.
The Needler gun is the worst gun too. It’s like the gun you’re forced to use when you run out of ammo for the actual useful weapons. Unless it becomes amazing in Halo 3 & 4? Im not there yet.
Kennykazey
You shut your mouth, the needler IS Halo 2. Dual wield, fire one at a time until the shots explode and all an elite can do is pick a god and pray. :-)

Kenny is spot on.

No way. It was always the weapon that would make me sigh when I ran out of ammo for the decent weapons. That and the little charging pistol (I don’t know the name). I prefer the weapons with a bit of knock back. The needler just isn’t accurate enough, takes too long to get the job done and leaves you open to attack. The battle / plasma rifle’s are where it’s at.
I do need to try and get back into it. I lost interest part way through Halo 2. Didn’t like playing as that alien guy and haven’t played for a while. I would like to finish all 4 before the new one comes out.
Kennykazey
The plasma pistol is great fun, it’s like hard-mode.
I’ll admit I used to think of it as useless as well, until I started using it as a joke and ended up liking it.
The early Arbiter levels are the worst in Halo 2, it gets better. And 3 is a lot of fun. Co-op is where it’s at though, in all cases.
Avenger
Cool set of gear, just a really chronic price. The franchise probably has to be one of the biggest in terms of mythology and story, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if it sold well to hardcore fans.

I kinda want that controller, but the Forza one has rubber grips, so it takes priority. Might still get it though as number four instead of the regular black one (which is mildly broken).
