Gameplay For Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst Shown At Gamescom

EA turned around from the Need for Speed trailer at Gamescom and showed a good look at one of the early missions in Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst. To no one’s surprise, it looks absolutely phenomenal, and to the pleasure of many, the mixture of running and fighting looks similar to what we got in the first game. There are a few cinematic scenes mixed in to give some context to the mission but most of the footage appears to be raw gameplay.

  1. Whilst I’m pleased that the launch isn’t being rushed, the cynic in me thinks that this looks close to launch but delayed to strengthen Q1’s financial returns.

Oh ok. I’m just inpatient – looks bonza!

    • *Impatient

    • But it would be a shame for such a title to be missed out through all the bigger name releases in Q4.

Also DICE ship Battlefront in November.

  2. This does look cool but parkour does cause me some frustrations (albeit only the previous Mirror’s Edge game and Dying Light), and I think I’ve probably had my fill of it in Dying Light recently, which – going by that trailer – incorporated it into a much more “complete” game, so I may give this a miss. Also looks almost identical to the first, just with far better visuals.

  3. Looks incredible.

Likely to be the most refreshing game since Mirror’s Edge itself.

  4. Looks fantastic. Kind of makes me want to replay the original again – now that’s one PS4 remaster I’d like to see!

  5. Hmm. The story was somewhat intriguing but for the sake of equalization it would be nice with some female thugs (the dispensable ones), and not just women that are heroes or fascinating and good looking villains.

As for the game; I prefer thirds person when it comes to parkour. Since it is not me who is running I would like to see the person I’m “running with” in front of me, and that also gives a better view of the surroundings. Though, those surrounding doesn’t look that drawing to me; the futuristic look is a bit off putting in my opinion.

  6. Wow, looks amazing, the visuals are slick as hell!

  7. Looks fantastic, and true to the original, which I’m so happy about..!
Looking very much forward to this..!
