After being 10 months late to joining the party, this week I dipped my toes for the first time into Driveclub. Although it was only the Plus Edition, I can’t say I’m immediately taken by the game. It’s a shame because I was really looking forward to it, but hopefully I’ll get more into it as I’ve got the week off from work next week.
Are there any games that you can think of that you really wanted to like, but just couldn’t get to grips with? For me, the other games that spring to mind are Brink and Total War: Rome 2. Let me know what your choices would be, but not until you’ve read this week’s (belated) Community Round-Up!
Looking at the Meets, chances are that Monday will see the Project CARS or F1 2015 meet, with the odd Rocket League or GTA V Meet thrown in also.
If you’d rather play something else, you can add your own Meet to the list, provided you have more than 250 TSA Points.
All the previews from Gamescom will doubtless appear over the next few weeks, once Tef has returned from Gamescom, but for now we have to make do with just that for FIFA 16. For the most part, players will know what to expect, but that didn’t stop Stefan taking a look at the inclusion of the women’s international teams and also some updates to Ultimate Team.
On the reviews side of things, it was a mixed bag. Jim brought in our first high scorer, Episode 1 of Kings Quest, an adventure game from the revered Sierra Entertainment. Also on a 9/10 was Skullgirls 2nd Encore, which brings with it more polish and more characters, while we dropped a point to 8/10 for Galak-Z: The Dimensional, which Matt says is a great and fun game, provided you can get over the difficulty.
Aran gave us two reviews this week, and he began with Episode 1 of Blues & Bullets. With a lovely noir art style, the game has the potential to be a very good mystery thriller, even if it seems a bit too eager in this first episode – hence its 7/10 score. His second review came in the form of Funk of Titans, which he gave a 5/10. He calls it “an incredibly easy game to beat, and the gameplay itself is very, very repetitive,” leading to boredom quickly setting in.
Our last and worst review of the week on a 3/10 was Submerged. Although Jim commended the setting and visuals, he said the game has “strong concepts, yet the execution leaves much to be desired”, which has disappointed many who were looking forward to it (myself included). Another game that seems to have disappointed many was Angry Birds 2, which was this weeks game on Mobile Watch.
As I mentioned earlier, Tef has been in sunny Cologne this last week for Gamescom. He’s been busy playing games, interviewing devs and so on, but has still taking the time to send us a diary of his travels around Gamescom, with Days 1, 2 and 3.
Voting for PS+ games, Tomb Raider and Driveclub all featured in Hot Topics in last week’s Chronicle, while WeView has spiced things up a bit by looking at retro games. Super Metroid was fondly remembered by those of you that commented, and it’s looking the same for Shenmue, which is this week’s game.
To finish, the Podcast produced Episode 188, while What We Played #215 featured The Walking Dead, Kings Quest and Skullgirls.

Time to check on the Forums before we finish:
- Light Liguria explains why he doesn’t see the appeal of multiplayer games
- And things seem to be stepping up a notch for TSA’s Rocket League Championship
And that’s a wrap for this week’s Round Up. Enjoy your weekend, and I’ll see you here next week!
