The last trickle of Gamescom news is oozing out of Cologne and we have new screens for Hitman and Need For Speed. The Hitman screens are, let’s be honest, dull. The back of someone’s head, even if it is Agent 47, is not an exciting image. Staring at a door doesn’t rate highly on the excite-o-meter, either.
In contrast, the Need For Speed screens are almost pornographic. There are curves that fade to the distance, tantalising shots of bumpers, misty sunsets*, and water dripping down the rear end of one of the models as if she (sorry, it) had been having hot, sweaty howsyerfather.
* Even my description, Misty Sunsets, sounds like name of a porn star.

NFS looks really good but it’s the handling that makes (or breaks) a driving game.

Bit like pornography, I’d be highly surprised if NFS is like that in the flesh. Looks like FMV rather than in-game but I’ll be pleasantly surprised if it is a happy ending for all concerned.
