Mortal Kombat X For PS3 & Xbox 360 Has Been Cancelled

Mortal Kombat X released for PS4, Xbox One, and PC back in April, and was met with a good reception. News on the PS3 and Xbox 360 editions of the fighter remained scant, with Warner Bros. Interactive stating it was being worked on. Now though Warner has broken its silence on the matter, and those of you who were waiting for last gen Mortal Kombat X will be sorely disappointed.

After months of development, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has come to the regrettable conclusion that we cannot release Mortal Kombat X for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.  Please know our teams worked diligently to meet the quality standards set by the current-gen versions of the game.  We were not able to get the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions to the quality expected of a Mortal Kombat game and are very sorry for not being able to deliver the products as originally planned.

The publisher advises that you contact any retailers you may have pre-ordered with to cancel it. At least Warner cancelled instead of releasing a port of Mortal Kombat X for last gen that would have been shoddy.

  1. After nearly 10 years, it looks like last gen is about done now. Apart from CoD & Fifa, I don’t think there will many major titles on the way for them.

    • It’d be fascinating to see how many PS3s regularly get used online these days. Just to see the “tail” of the ol’ blighter and how that feeds into what data Sony presents devs with.

      • I’ve noticed this year most of the people on my friends list who were still on 360 have now got an xbox one. I think the takeup was much quicker on PS4 though.

There can’t be many (as a % of regular gamers) who are still playing last gen now.
