PlayStation Network Currently Going Through Unplanned Maintenance

The PlayStation Network is currently getting some unplanned maintenance with services on the PS4 being affected by this work. A reason hasn’t been given for why this is happening now, but maybe the network needed some emergency stability update for it to continue functioning.

The PlayStation Network is currently undergoing unplanned maintenance. During this maintenance you may experience difficulties accessing Account management and the PS Store. Online gaming may also be affected by this maintenance.

You may have some difficulty launching games, applications, or online features. Our engineers are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible, and we thank you for your patience.

At least this isn’t a peak time of gaming in the UK and Europe, and the service should resume some normalcy soon.

  1. I’ve been experiencing loads of issues lately, both with signing in and access to the store on PC (I’m in Norway).
And I’ve not been alone, atleast according to the good folks at downdetector.com

Hoping this will resolve all issues.
    And increase speeds overall.
    For all eternity.

    • I was pleasantly suprised with the speed when I bought a game this weekend and it downloaded 9GB in 20 minutes (a whopping 61mbps).
The game before that downloaded at around 100kbps :S

No changes in my internet connection, so I actually see improvement…

  2. And as soon as it becomes “news”, it’s fixed.

But I suspect it’s delayed the store update today. That’s been up early on Tuesday mornings lately. Not this week, it seems. Apart from one of the PS+ games, but that’s showing up as the normal price, not free. And a whole bunch of coins for MGS.

    • Ok, the 3 old games are up along with 1 of the 3 new ones. Grow Home and Super Time Force Ultra aren’t up yet.

And the 4 that are show up as the full price, but get discounted to free when you try and buy them.

  3. I reckon the maintenance work is for the impending wave of new high-network-activity games coming to PS+ for September!
