There will be no Daily Heroic missions, Weekly Heroic Strike or Nightfall Strikes in Destiny when this week’s reset occurs tomorrow. This is part of the build up to The Taken King, instead all players will get access to a preview of the new Crucible levels.
Bungie have also been collecting data to amend the Mercy rule in the Crucible.
The Mercy Rule aims to identify these games in progress, and end them early. This serves three goals:
1. End bad matches as quickly as possible2. Give players full end-of-match rewards to discourage quitting3. Reduce the number of players who are joined into bad games via join in progress
When the Mercy Rule hits, Shaxx will call out the end of the match. We immediately disable join in progress to prevent any additional players from joining the game (if anyone has dropped already) and reset the game clock to :10 seconds. After those 10 seconds, the match will end normally. All players will receive their end of match rewards and return to matchmaking.
Put simply, if your team is being thrashed in the Crucible, with a huge difference of around 15,000 points or more between teams, the game will finish early.
The final bit of Destiny gossip has been revealed via a lawsuit between music composer Marty O’Donnell and Bungie. Court documents reveal that there is indeed a ten year plan for Destiny encompassing five retail releases over that period.
