A “number of companies” have been talking to Psyonix about turning their hit PC and PlayStation 4 game, Rocket League, in to a movie or television show.
“We’ve had discussions with various people and studios in Hollywood about making movies based on Rocket League, or a TV show,” confirmed Jeremy Dunham, VP of marketing and communications.
“There’s nothing to announce, there’s nothing official, we haven’t signed any dotted lines,” he added. “A big reason for that is there are lot of questions about Rocket League in general, about the fiction, the lore and how that would tie in to a television show or film.”
There are also talks of toys and other promotions based on the game.
I can see Rocket League working as a kids CGI cartoon TV series, or perhaps a grittier live action movie.

A nice way of saying “we just made a game with some rocket cars in it, how were we supposed to know someone wanted it to have a story”.

They’d end up having complaints nobody could hear the dialogue due to Noisy Fans.
Because obvious the dialogue and plot would be the most important parts of it ;)
