Last Gen Edition Of Call Of Duty: Black Ops 3 Won’t Have Campaign Mode

Treyarch has announced that the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Call Of Duty: Black Ops 3 will not contain a single player campaign, with multiplayer and Zombies being the modes that will be available. The Weapon Paint Shop andeSports tools will also not feature for last gen players.  A slightly discounted price of $49.99 has been suggested by Treyarch, as well as feature a download code for the first Call Of Duty: Black Ops game.

The Black Ops 3 PS3 and Xbox 360 versions will feature Multiplayer and Zombies gameplay only, not Campaign. The ambitious scope of the 1-4 player coop Campaign design of the PS4, Xbox One and PC versions could not be faithfully recreated on old generation hardware.

Delivering the best possible gameplay experience on all platforms is always our highest priority. With that in mind, Black Ops 3 PS3 and Xbox 360 players can continue to look forward to a new experience of Black Ops 3 multiplayer, including the new momentum-based, chain-movement system, as well as the all-new Specialist class of 9 Black Ops soldiers, which fundamentally change the way players engage in combat.

Call Of Duty: Black Ops 3 will be released globally on November 6th for PS4, Xbox One, PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.

  1. So, basically, it’s COD MP for full price? Erm….. I would say that’s a bad idea but considering how popular COD’s MP is, it will sell the usual COD amount. Although I can’t tell if it’s laziness, Activision dumping the engine for a current gen engine or just using the “**** it, sell the MP only on PS3 and X360 because we need more money.” attitude. Also, considering BLOPs is less then a tenner in some places, the only new content is zombies and the MP and that’s not really saying much.

  2. Sadly this looks like the beginning of the end for last gen consoles..why would you not put the single player game in there..I know that the heart of both cod and battlefield is the multplayer but without a campaign to have a dabble with..this would be like watching the chuckle brothers without Barry lol..

    • The end of last gen is well overdue. The latest consoles have been out almost 2 years and have sold plenty. There can’t be many gamers who actually buy games regularly still without a xboxone/PS4.

      • PS2 were still going strong despite having PS3 few years ago

      • I am still buying PS3 games if they aren’t on the PS4. There’s not many but there’s some random games that arrived earlier this year I wanted.

      • Yeah far enough if it’s not on new gen but for cross gen games you can’t expect much effort when the sales split of new vs last gen is so big. For example Destiny sold 46% on PS4, only 3% on PS3.

  3. Might as well just call it Call of Duty 2016.

    • Good call with COD 2016!

Lack of campaign won’t hurt sales enough to cover the cost of putting it in I’d wager.
