Year in, year out, FIFA is one of the best and most consistent sellers in the UK charts, and so it proved once more as FIFA 16 hit the top spot in its first week on sale.
However, it might not all be quite so rosy as another chart topping launch would suggest, as first week sales have dropped 7% compared to last year and overall revenue by 4%. On the other hand, we don’t know how digital sales have fared, so it’s entirely plausible that those have risen to fill the gap. We do at least know that the last generation sales have dropped from 45% to 19% this year, as the latest console hardware takes an ever tighter grip on the market.
Behind FIFA, Destiny: The Taken King is in second place and Forza 6 in third, with fourth place going to the freshly launched Toys to Life game, Skylanders SuperChargers, and fifth place in Metal Gear Solid V’s hands.
