Movie Series Planned For The Witcher Franchise, First Film Expected 2017

It appears Geralt will be making the jump to the big screen as Platige Films has announced it is partnering with The Sean Daniel Company to create a film series of The Witcher. These films won’t be centred around the games but the plots of the books by author Andrzej Sapkowski, from which CD Projekt RED’s output also draws inspiration from. The first planned film will take plots from the stories titled The Witcher and Lesser Evil.

Polish director Tomasz Bagiński will be taking the helm of this project, and he already has experience with The Witcher series since he directed the intro scenes for the first two Witcher games. Thania St. John, who has worked on Grimm and Buffy The Vampire Slayer, is heading the script writing duties. The Sean Daniel Company is best known for The Mummy series of films, as well as Tombstone and Rat Race.

  1. The games are sequels to the books anyway, so they would be following them really ;-)
