Community Round-Up: 21/11/15

Winter is coming! Temperatures are plummeting, rain (or even snow in some cases) is falling, and the wind is howling. The only upside to this is that it makes for the perfect excuse to pull up a chair, grab a drink and settle down for this week’s Community Round-Up!

CRU2-PCARSMeet

Looking at the Meets, chances are that Monday will see the usual Project CARS meet, with the odd Rocket League or GTA V Meet thrown in elsewhere.

If you’d rather play something else, you can add your own Meet to the list, provided you have more than 250 TSA Points.

It was another quiet week for the previews, so let’s get them done and dusted. In fact, we only had one, as Stefan had a ‘look’ at the release version of EVE: Gunjack, which brings epic space fights to mobile with the Samsung Gear VR.

Aran reviewed Football Manager 2016, which is our high scorer this week. Giving it a 9/10, he left this disclaimer: “Football Manager 2016 isn’t just a game, it becomes a major part of your life”. Elsewhere, Tuffcub described Superbeat: Xonic as a spiritual successor to the DJ Max series in his 8/10 review, which was also joined by Episode 6 of Telltale’s Game Of Thrones. Jim called the final episode “a strong close overall” and looks forward to the inevitable second season.

The last game we had on an 8/10 came from Kris, who looked at how Kingdom combined “exploration, micromanagement and strategy” into a game “that’s easy to love”. Dropping to a 7/10 was Star Wars Battlefront. Although it has ‘outstanding visuals’ and ‘solid gameplay’, Dom couldn’t help but feel DICE are trying to pull a fast one by stashing so much content behind the season pass – not that that will bother dedicated Star Wars fans much.

Sitting on a 6/10 was Kromaia Ω from Tuffcub, which shared the spot with Adam and Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash. From our unscored reviews, Episode 2 of Minecraft: Story Mode doesn’t quite live up to the standards set by the first, but that’s not enough to put Stefan off continuing the series. He also found the time to review Thrustmaster’s T150 Racing Wheel, which is currently one of the only mid-range wheel on the market. On a slightly different note, Aran gave his impressions of The Elder Scrolls Online – Tales Of Tamriel Book II: The Lore, which covers the ‘tales and myths within Bethesda’s MMO’.

From this week’s features, Jim took a look at the updates to Rocket League that patch 1.08 brought, and also tried out Star Wars Battlefront’s Mobile Companion app. Lastly, Dave passed judgement on Disgaea 5’s Season Pass, so fans can decide if it is deal or no deal.

The Chronicle discussed the Xbox One’s latest update, and Friday the 13th which was recently kickstarted. Elsewhere, the Open Forum opened up about sequel fatigue, asking if you’re getting tired of seeing the same things each year.

Lastly, Kev returned and Tef stepped in for Episode 201 of the Podcast, while What We Played #230 featured Battlefront, Fallout and Superbeat.
